Messi Crowned the Best FIFA Men’s Player 2022
Lionel Messi has been crowned as The Best FIFA Men’s Player 2022 during The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony in Paris.
The Argentina and Paris Saint-Germain superstar emerged as the winner after beating teammate Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema in the voting process.
Having won the award in 2019 Messi has become the third player to win The Best FIFA Men’s Player for the second time after Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski.
Messi spearheaded Argentina to conquer the world in Qatar 2022 World Cup, scoring seven goals including a brace in that titanic final win over France. He won the Golden Ball prize for the competition’s best player.

Since joining from Barcelona in 2021, he has been in stellar form for PSG, having won the French Ligue 1 in his debut season and has continued to drop clutch performances for the Parisians.
Messi also spearheaded the FIFA FIFPRO World IX alongside Thibaut Courtois, Joao Cancelo, Achraf Hakimi, Virgil van Dijk, Casemiro, Kevin de Bruyne, Luka Modric, Karim Benzema, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.
Ahead of the ceremony, many football fans tipped France and Real Madrid marksman Karim Benzema as the favourite to win the award, having already won the 2022 Ballon d’Or but Messi’s exploits in the World Cup certainly puts him ahead.
