Morocco knocks out Spain 3-0 on penalties
The Spanish national team in a penalty shootout lost to the Morocco team in the match 1/8 of the final of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The main time of the match ended with a score of 0:0. The teams were unable to hit each other’s goal in overtime either.
But in the series, the players of the African team were more accurate – 3: 0.
Spain midfielder Gavi has become the youngest starter in the World Cup play-offs in 64 years. The footballer appeared on the field from the first minutes of the match against Morocco at the age of 18 years and 123 days.
Midfielder Sergi Busquets repeated the record for matches for the Spanish national team at the World Cup. The game against Morocco was the player’s 17th at the World Cups. Only two players in Spanish history, Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos, have the same number.
Recall that at the 2018 World Cup, the Spanish national team also lost in a penalty shootout to the Russian team at the stage of 1/8 finals.
The Moroccan national team goes to the 1/4 finals of the World Cup and will now play with the winner of the match Portugal – Switzerland, which will also be held on December 6. The quarterfinal match will be held on December 10.
