Inter Milan Stroll Past AC Milan To Win Italian Super Cup

Inter Milan thrashed fierce rivals AC Milan 3-0 to retain the Supercoppa Italiana on Wednesday.

The annual meeting of the reigning Scudetto and Coppa Italia holders crossed swords at the King Fahd Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Stefani Pioli’s side were on the receiving end of a heavy defeat following two first goals and a late third as Inter secured the trophy.

AC Milan dominated possession but failed to create clear-cut chances. On the night they lacked the cutting edge in the vital areas while Inter were simply clinical.

Federico Dimarco drew first blood as early as the 10th minute before the effervescent Edin Dzeko doubled the lead on the 21st minute with a bottom of the corner finish to wrap the first 45 minutes.

Lautaro Martinez wrapped up the win for Simone Inzaghi’s side midway through the second period when he brazenly curled home with the outside of his left-foot to complete an impressive victory.

The result marks the first time Inter have won against Milan in an Italian cup final, having lost the Coppa Italia in 1977 and the Italian Super Cup in 2011.

Haaland needed 25 games to reach 30 goals, which surpassed the record held by Ruud van Nistelrooy. The former Manchester United and Real Madrid striker reached that benchmark in 34 games.

At 22 years, Haaland is considered the youngest player to score 30 goals in European club soccer’s most prized competition. Kylian Mbappé was 22 years old when he reached that figure.

City is a step closer to winning a first Champions League title in the club’s history.

Haaland fired the Premier League champions ahead from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute after Benjamin Henrichs was adjudged to have handled in the box after a video review.

Haaland had his second and his 30th in the Champions League when heading in a rebound in the 24th after Kevin de Bruyne hit the bar.

He had his hat trick in the second minute of first-half stoppage time when bundling the ball over line after Ruben Dias hit the post with a header.
