Barcelona Go Top Of LaLiga After 1-0 Victory Over Atletico Madrid 

Barcelona defeated Atletico Madrid by a loan goal to nil at the Estadio Metropolitano as the home side stuttering form continues. 

A 22nd minute strike from Ousmane Dembele proved to be the winner for La Blaugrana as they go three points clear at the summit of LaLiga. 

Barcelona took inspiration from Real Madrid’s defeat at Villarreal as they put in a superb shift to seal a vital win that has propelled them to the top of league. 

Barcelona was largely the better side and showed more intent from the onset while the hosts played a catch up in most part of the thrilling encounter in the capital. 

Griezmann came close to the equalizer midway through the second half though most of their build up failed to trouble Barcelona’s solid defense. 

The visitors took absolute control of the game during the closing stages with the scorer coming close to doubling the lead but his effort from close range clipped off the post. 

Stefan Savic and Ferran Torres were sent off following their off the ball tussle in added time but Ronald Araujo superbly dealt with a late incredible clearance to deny Griezmann. 

The defeat has seen Diego Simeone’s team end the week out of the top four. They will take a trip to Almeria next week while Barcelona take Real Betis in Riyadh on January 12 in the Spanish Supercopa
