Mendy Undergoes Surgery On Fractured Finger
Senegal and Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has undergone successful surgery on his fractured finger over the weekend.
Mendy fractured his finger during training this week and is expected to be sidelined for lengthy period.
The 30-year-old was nursing a shoulder problem he sustained during Senegal’s run to the last 16 in Qatar and has not featured for the Blues since his return from the World Cup.
Manager Graham was anxious to see Mendy return to full fitness within the next week but the latest injury blow means the former Rennes goalkeeper will now be facing more time on the sidelines.
No time frame has been given for his possible return to action.
“Edouard Mendy has undergone an operation on a fractured finger sustained in training this week”, a statement from the club’s official website read.
The statement added “The 30-year-old will work closely with the club’s medical department during his rehabilitation phase.”
