Breaking: Christian Atsu Found Dead Under Rubble

Ghana and Hatayspor winger Christian Atsu has tragically been found dead following the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

The 31-year-old’s agent confirmed the sad news this morning two weeks after the devastating earthquake in Turkey.

He was found dead under the rubble in his home in Hatay.

The Ghanaian international had been missing since the quake that killed over 40,000 people in Turkey and Syria.

His agent Nana Sachere tweeted on Saturday morning “It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to announce to all well wishers that sadly Christian Atsu’s body was recovered this morning,”

“My deepest condolences go to his family and loved ones. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their prayers and support.” he added.

“Sorry for your loss. The funeral of our football player Christian Atsu, who lost his life under the collapse, is on his way to be sent to his hometown Ghana. We will not forget you, Atsu. Peace be upon you, beautiful person. There are no words to describe our sadness. Rest in peace.” Hatayspor tweeted.

The former Chelsea and Newcastle United player joined the Turkish top-flight side in September 2022 and scored a last gasp winner in a Super Lig fixture on February 5.

Christian Atsu set up a charity for abandoned, orphaned and trafficked children. He donated thousands of pounds to help destitute prisoners in Ghana, paid for their life-saving operations with little or no publicity. An excellent footballer but even better man. Rest In Peace!
