Football columnist Grant Wahl died during the match Netherlands – Argentina
Football columnist Grant Wahl from the United States died while covering the quarterfinals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. This was reported by the reporter of the American National Public Radio (NPR) Russell Lewis on his Twitter page.
“NPR can confirm the death of longtime football columnist Grant Wahl,” Lewis wrote.
The U.S. Soccer Federation on its official Twitter account expressed condolences over Val’s death.
According to RIA Novosti, the 48-year-old commentator lost consciousness during the match. The arriving team of doctors carried out resuscitation measures and carried away the journalist on a stretcher.
While in Kater, Val complained that he was sick. Local doctors preliminarily diagnosed the reporter with bronchitis and prescribed a course of antibiotics, which, according to the journalist, did not bring relief.
The sports columnist represented Sports Illustrated, collaborated with Fox Sports and CBS Sports.
